Installation matters
The quality of your window or door is only as good as the installation. Many manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty. This covers the window or door itself, but not the installation. No matter how much a window or door costs, even the highest of high-end windows or doors function poorly without proper installation.
Our father-son team, Jim and Josh Warford, and all of our installers have been through specialized training in installing windows and doors, backed up by many years of experience. Compare this to companies that use the cheapest labor they can find and cut corners to save on cost. Beware of extremely low bids.
More about windows
There are two types of replacement windows: “Retrofit” and “New Construction”. Here’s the difference…
- “Retrofit” replacement windows fit into the existing window frame.
- “New Construction” replacement windows get a brand new frame and flashing.
“Retrofit” replacement windows
When installing retrofit windows, it’s essential to check first to make sure the original flashing and seal are intact. If you install retrofit windows into leaky frames, your new windows will leak! Depending on the cause of the leak, you may need new construction windows.
“New Construction” replacement windows
The term “New Construction” is a little misleading as these windows can also be used to replace existing windows. The biggest difference is that, with new construction windows, we remove the entire old window and frame all the way to the studs and install new flashing and a new seal.
Our process
When we install new windows in an existing home, we carefully maintain the integrity of the original seal. We use a tri-polymer sealant, the best sealant available.
Some contractors pull out the old window frames to save cost. This disrupts the flashing and means that, down the road, your windows will leak. We never pull the frames unless we are installing new construction windows with brand new flashing. That way, the water that hits the outside of your house stays outside.
When we install new exterior doors, we are careful to maintain the trim if it can be reused. If not, members of our staff are excellent craftspeople who do beautiful casing and trim work.

7 reasons to like your new windows from Custom WIndows, Baths & More
- More than just dollar savings
New windows can help reduce your energy bill significantly. In addition to lower energy bills, new windows with Low-E glass deliver more comfort, create less condensation - and protect your valuables from sun damage better than conventional clear-glass double-paned alternatives.
- Protection from winter chill
On cold winter nights, do you avoid sitting near the window? The cold, inside surface of an inefficient window pulls heat away from your body, making you feel chilly even when you're wearing a sweater with the thermostat at 70 degrees. With new, energy-efficient windows, the interior glass stays warmer, so you can enjoy your seat by the window even when the temperature outside dips well below freezing.
- Reduced condensation
On winter mornings, is there moisture on the inside of your windows? If an inefficient window or window frame gets too cold, indoor moisture can condense on interior surfaces. Condensation damages sills, cracks paint and encourages the growth of mold. Our energy-efficient windows keep the interior of the glass and frame warmer, reducing condensation.
- Shielding from summer heat
In summer, do some of your rooms feel like a sauna? A typical double-paned, clear-glass window allows approximately 75 percent of the sun’s heat into your home. Windows with Low-E coating keep more of the heat outside without significantly reducing visible light, so you get the light you need without the uncomfortable heat.
- Safeguarding valuable interiors
Your favorite photograph, your child’s artwork - and even your couch can fade or discolor after repeated exposure to direct sunlight. Our Low-E coatings – the same coatings that keep out the summer heat – can also reduce fading by up to 75 percent. These coatings act like sunscreen for your house, blocking damaging ultraviolet rays without noticeably reducing visible light.
- Noise reduction
Do you live on a noisy street? Annoyed by dogs barking? With your new windows, you’ll notice an immediate reduction in the noise level inside your house. If you’re sensitive to noise, you’ll appreciate the difference.
- Clean windows and screens
How long has it been since you cleaned your windows and screens? We clean your beautiful new windows before we leave.
